Online Lessons

Have you ever thought to yourself “I would love to learn to play the guitar" but you might say “it’s too hard” or “I’m too busy”, or “I can’t read music”, or going somewhere for lessons is a hassle and time consuming!  If that’s the case,  Maybe learning to play the guitar online is a better path to take.

I know it may seem like a daunting task but deep down everyone would love to enjoy making beautiful music on such an iconic instrument.  Well, now you can!   With online guitar lessons you can get started right away at learning to play the guitar.

If you are a complete beginner without a clue of where to start and YouTube is not doing the trick and going to a studio or someone’s home to learn isn’t your cup of tea, then online is the best choice.

You may also be player with previous experience or a college guitar major (or minor) on your summer break and want a fresh viewpoint on a piece you are working on.  In any case, you can learn in the comfort of your own home at your own leisure.

The Lessons:

The online lessons I offer are low stress with positive reenforcement and goal oriented.  They are conducted in a one-on-one (private) ZOOM format. Typically, a 30-minute lesson once a week is appropriate for most beginners through intermediate players.  More advanced students can choose to have a 45 or 60-minute lesson.

Assignments

Assignments are clearly set at the end of each lesson so that the student understands completely the goals for the next lesson.  This is probably the most important aspect for beginners.

My goal for a beginner student is to always plan for them to have a have clear and concise obtainable goal for each lesson.  There is nothing worse than being over loaded with confusing weekly assignments

Method:

The lessons are structured in the classical guitar tradition (you can use any guitar except for an electric guitar).  By learning classical guitar, you will learn a structured methodology including learn note reading, and proper hand technique and music theory all of which will help maximize your ability to play beautiful music and give you a well-rounded learning experience to build a solid musical foundation.

Remember, if you can play classical guitar, you can easily transition to play ANY style of music.

Scheduling:

Since our adult life can be very hectic, scheduling lessons can be difficult, but I try to make it as convenient as possible by giving the student a variety of options for days and times for online lessons.

Let’s start learning, growing and enriching your life by playing music on the guitar!  No matter the age you CAN learn to play the guitar!

Tuition:

I always keep lessons affordable and competitive.  A weekly 30-minute private online lessons cost $120 a month. The way I calculate your tuition is I average lessons throughout the year.  I teach 42 lessons throughout the year meaning you may have 3, 4 or 5 lessons in the month depending on if there's a holiday or some other important event families are typically doing something.  Regardless, your tuition stays the same plus there is NO contract.   This tuition structure helps to keep it easy to keep track of your costs.

The Teacher:

As a professional classical guitarist with a Bachelors and Masters degree in classical guitar performance (also with considerable knowledge in flamenco and jazz) with almost 40 years of teaching experience in the private sector and at the collegiate level, I can give you pointers to help you avoid the pitfalls in learning.  (Also see my “About” page).
